While at the Rasquache Residency, I took photos of birds and butterflies in Cholula, Cancun, and Coapa. I created eight new Mexican Murmuration works, where the photos’ color and light/dark value were imported into 3D software and manipulated to create abstractions of the stunning living colors of Mexico.
The opening celebration for the residency was fantastic, and the music was stunning.
A family band called La Vieja El Cayuco Son Jarocho was playing, and they had the crowd feeling warm and connected.
All were displayed in the Concina de Humo Gallery, Federico’s mom’s smoke kitchen turned into a gallery. I LOVE Mexico and the culture.
