GANs art is a form of computational creativity that uses Generative Adversarial Networks—a type of artificial intelligence in which two neural networks, a generator and a discriminator, are trained together in opposition—to produce new images, videos, or other media. The generator creates outputs based on learned patterns from large datasets, while the discriminator evaluates their realism, pushing the generator toward increasingly refined results. Artists harness this process to explore aesthetics, originality, and machine learning’s role in authorship, often blending human curation and hand drawings as training sets, with AI-generated forms to produce surreal, photorealistic, or abstract works that challenge the boundaries between human and machine creativity.
